NO SUPRA HAT-TRICK FOR SA

After consecutive Top 20 placements at the Miss Supranational pageant in 2011 and 2012, a hat-trick for South Africa did not materialise when Natasha Pretorius failed to make the cut at the pageant final in Minsk, Belarus. Natasha, a pre-arrival favourite courtesy of some creative photography, was not called into the Top 20.

South Africa also lost the Miss Supranational Africa crown when Miss Gabon was awarded the continental title.  The Miss Supranational crown was won by Miss Philippines.

ORIGINAL SA DESIGNS?

Being the huge Sherri Hill fan that I am, I am so happy to see how many "original" South African pageant gowns she has inspired.

MELINDA MAKES TOP 10

Despite her mega favourite status in the media and on social networking sites, Melinda Bam was included in the Top 10 at the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas before being unceremoniously dumped from the Top 5. The pageant was won by Miss USA followed by the delegates from Philippines, Venezuela, Australia and Brazil.

MARILYN RAMOS WINS MISS SA

Marilyn Ramos was crowned Miss South Africa 2012 at the pageant in Sun City a few minutes ago. The first runner-up was Stacey Webb and the second runner-up was Pearle Nxele.
